Splendid Décor, Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt
Garden décor doesn’t need to be strictly functional – after all, the idea is to appreciate the sensory pleasures of a thriving botanical sanctuary. But most effective decorative touches can be appreciated on multiple levels: the aesthetic as well as the functional. Bird baths fall squarely into this category; many of them are designed with an artistic bent that incidentally provides a place for birds to wash.
Sundials add many of the same benefits to a garden landscape. Beyond simply keeping time by casting a telltale shadow, they work as a conversation piece. A garden sundial doesn’t retreat into the background, but it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb, either. It remains a vital part of the scenery, always there to be appreciated and enjoyed.
